Scilly’s Kitesurfing

Scilly’s climate/environment with respect to kitesurfing:

“Internal” beaches (beaches facing the centre of the Island group) have a low gradient, are mostly of a good quality and are facing in most directions to be ideal for most wind directions.

The Islands are exposed, so they are rarely short of wind.

The sea is rarely “warm” – it comes direct from the Atlantic Ocean.

We do not get surf like Newquay does – our “external” coasts are weathered away with no beaches.

Kitesurfers have commented, and I believe that a surfing magazine has even commented that the Islands are good for kitesurfing.

(This information does not come from a experienced kitesurfer.)
