As a part of helping the volunteers service, Connexions, the Isles of Scilly students of years 11 to 13 have been offered the chance to go around north-western Europe in the Tall Ships Race.

Ben Blackwell, Ben Shiles and Murray Hicks were part of the first group to go on the Tall Ships. Unfortunately for them, the gearbox broke down, and they were unable to start their voyage until it was too late. They were meant to sail from Falmouth to Belgium.

This leg will be from Bergen, Norway to Esbjerg, Denmark.

The students taking part in this leg will be: Steve Duncan, Natalie Gardener, Robert Greenlaw, Rebecca Hicks, Tom Jackman, Tanya Kennedy, Annie Penhailgon, Amy Wilbourne.

They will leave on Friday 27 July on the Scillonian. They will eventually meet up with the Trinity Sailing tall ships ‘Golden Vanity? and ‘Provident? in Bergen on the 29 July and return to Scilly on 8 August on the Scillonian.
