Literally no one is prepared to predict the outcome of this years cricket triangle and the annual event is poised delicately, just over a week before it is due to commence on Tresco.

Last years competition was won by an impressive Tresco outfit, they cruised to an easy enough victory against both of their opponents, St. Martins and St. Agnes. The formbook may as well be thrown out of the window as each team has looked impressive through different parts of the year. Tresco were in form towards the start of the year, beating both other teams while St. Agnes did likewise in the middle of the season and also came close to beating the hugely impressive St. Marys but in the previous two weeks, St. Martins have hit back with two impressive wins, despite some shaky moments, against Tresco and St. Agnes. Maybe one of the most telling influences of the outcome will be the new Tresco wicket. A new carpet wicket, similar to that of St. Martins and St. Agnes, has been laid recently and reports have filtered through that it is very fast and favours the bowlers, one interpretation of that from a St. Marys player was that it was probably lumpy!

St. Agnes will play Tresco, weather permitting, on the new wicket a week before the tournament commences, this will mean that all the teams will have experience with the new surface before play commences.

The Triangle is viewed as one of the most important and competitive sporting events in Scilly and there is even tough competition to be included in the teams at all. Every one should and does put in their all to produce some displays of quite marvellous cricket.
