Newquay County Gig Championships are an annual event. Scilly, though not strictly speaking a part of Cornwall, takes part in the Championships, and frequently does well in the final positions.

Newquay lifeboat was called out twice on Sunday afternoon. Here, the smaller RIB delivers the people its rescued safely to the quay.

The larger RIB is launched with the help of the ‘Sea Tractor’. Neither of the incidents were gig related but the RNLI promted applause from Gig spectators.
