The Islands were pretty quiet, the bright moon lit the land and clear sky. The streets were cold and empty, it was around 2’C and everyone was preparing for the night ahead.
At 8 pm it had started: the streets of Hugh Town filled with hundreds of merry people making their way to the nearest pub.
Favourites amongst the fancy dress outfits were: Ast’rix and Ob’lix; Badger Airport Staff; Commuting Businessmen; Darth Vader and Jar Jar Binks; Dennis the Menaces; Fishing Boats and a swarm of bees. Along with the usual Policemen, Thieves and Convicts, Faries, Hippies, Robin Hoods, Santas, smartly-dressed people and a variety of animals. Celebrity-dress included: Ali G and Elvis. There were also topical dresses: Bin Laden, the Taleban, and the SAS.
People had obviously put a lot of effort into the festivities and weren’t going to let the cold get them down.
The ambulance was called out at 12:15 am, reason unknown.
