BBC Radio Five Live learned that the Isles of Scilly Football League was in line for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the smallest in the World.

It could not really get any smaller - the two teams, Garrison Gunners and the Woolpack Wanderers, play up on the Garrison field, which is considered the ?home ground? for both teams.

Five Live interviewed Howard Cole, Fixtures Secretary, who told the BBC the arrangements for the weekly matches: “We pick our teams by going to the pub in November.”

Currently, the two teams are quite equal in their achievement: Gunners having won 20 times, three up on the Wanderers who have won 17 times.

It is not yet confirmed that the GBWR has actually entered them for being the smallest league.

This footballing fact was also broadcast on Virgin Radio and in Mondays ‘The Sun? Newspaper. With all this coverage, the clubs are believed to be in talks with Sky Sports for coverage rights! (Joke!)
