A military bomb disposal team attended an incident on St. Agnes this afternoon as an explosive device was discovered washed in on Covean beach. A Seaking helicopter landed three people on the heathland just above the beach.

St. Agnes Coastguards attended the scene as the helicopter circled the Island several times in order to survey the ground for a landing site. The devices, two smoke flares, were disposed of with plastic explosives. A loud ?boom? was heard as the situation was dealt with.

By then, the helicopter had landed on the meadow in order to pick up the team. The helicopter left the Island at about 3:30.
