Local police will now be patroling the Islands by bike, as well as the Landrover. Dave Blanning, West Cornwall and Scilly Special Constabulary district officer, bought over the bikes and is impressed with the reaction.
“It is a great way of getting around. You can actually stop and speak to people or as you pass by say ?good morning’. I was amazed at the response, absolutely superb. It was very well received which is most encouraging.”
The cycling bobby seems especially suited to Scilly with it’s small community, from which the local police will get more of a reaction, more so than an urban area.
