Treliske Hospital managers have admitted that nearly 200 diabetes patients needing appoints were put on a list and forgotten about.
The patients are still waiting for their check ups after what the hospital blamed on an “administrative oversight”.
The error happened as doctors worked to meet government targets for seeing new patients just diagnosed with diabetes.
This comes after diabetic outpatient clinics on the islands as well as Camborne, Redruth, Hayle and Helston finished back in June because of the recruitment problem, which reflected a national shortage of specialists in that field.
Apparently the confusion happened because there are only two consultants working instead of three.
