Axe the tax says local MP

MP Andrew George has come up with a replacment for Council Tax. He believes that replacing the unpopular tax with a Local Income Tax would benefit the majority of people in the Isles of Scilly.

This week the MP for West Cornwall joined the Liberal Democrat Leader Charles Kennedy in a new campaign to axe council tax.

Their proposals mean that a Local Income Tax which would be based on people’s ability to pay would replace the Council Tax.

For people on the Isles of Scilly this could be a popular alternative due to low incomes.
