The islands New Year celebrations went off without a hitch this year.
Locals and visitors celebrated in some of the most ?original? costumes ever worn on the islands.
St Mary’s was host to the biggest fancy dress party with revellers moving between pubs in Hugh Town.
The annual fancy dress competition was held in The Scillonian Club where Rob Hale, Joe Hayes, Russell Hutchins, Daniel Griffin, Andrew Hicks and friends won first prize as Lord of the Rings. Helena Pritchard and Georgia Hale came second as Bill and Ben.
People from the off islands also came down to celebrate. Geoff Taylor from Bryher, who was dressed as a bandit, told Scilly News “It was a great night as it always is. People always make sure they have a good time and the costumes were fantastic.”
Other costumes included Concorde, red indians, pirates, supermen, Bob the Builders, the Simpsons, Carman Miranda and at least two Michael Jacksons.
On Tresco islanders saw in the New Year at the New Inn. Residents from Bryher also joined in.
On Bryher many joined in with a round the island meal.
