Police are warning islanders of a postal scam that is hitting the Isles of Scilly as well as the rest of Britain.
Local business’ are being warned not to reply to letters that encourage entrepeneurs to send ?55 to the Data Protection Registration Company in Cheltenham. Scammers write that Scillonians must get the cheques in by 15th February to register.
PC Steve Hardy told Scilly News: “This is a scam. We advise that you shouldn’t send the money and if you do get a letter please speak to us immediately.”
