Scilly chefs competing in the Cornish cook off came a close second.

The competition took place at Camborne College and was won by the Royal Duchy Hotel with the Tresco Estate chefs coming a close second.

Chief Executive of Cornwall Rural Community Council, Oliver Baines, was a special guest and encouraged the cooks to push for business’ and schools in the county to use Cornish ingredients.

“We cannot compete with the grain barons of East Anglia let alone the Paris basin or the plains of Vermont. Let’s focus on what we do best - using fine foods of all descriptions, processed to the highest standards and cooked to the highest quality.”

The cooks made a gastronomic feast of a tian of Bryher seafood as a starter, fillet of beef as a main course and bread and butter pudding as a dessert. The view the full menu click on the link below.
