Figures have revealed that the region’s economy hasn’t been turned around even though Objective One was meant to revitalise the area.

The Isles of Scilly was granted Objective One status in March 1999 the GDP of Cornwall and the islands was revealed to be 75% less than the EU average.

But figures show a year after the Objective One was started the economy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly continued to get worse.

But Objective One Bosses say that the figures aren’t an accurate representation of the economy as they don’t take in to account problems like Foot and Mouth. They also spent less in 2001 than they do now.
