The Isles of Scilly Council is to hold a by-election in March.
Nominations are currently being received for the seat left by Pat Greenlaw, who died suddenly last month aged 70.
Nominations will close on 13 February and if contested, the election will take place on 11 March.
Mr Greenlaw, originally from Birmingham, represented St Mary’s on the Council for nearly 30 years and was the first non Scillonian to be made Chairman.
The election means the Council will be back to a full complement of 21 Members, 13 for St Mary’s and two for each of the Off-islands. Fisherman Ricky Pender and former Social Worker David Pearson were returned unopposed in September last year.
All Members must stand for re-election in May 2005.
