The Earl of Wessex is to visit Scilly in April.
Prince Edward, 40 next month, will spend a day on the Islands during a three day visit to the West Country.
And his first port of call will be Five Islands School on St Mary’s, where he will be watching children using the recently installed broadband.
He will then attend a tourism lunch at the Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher before returning to St Mary’s to re-open the renovated Tourism Information Centre.
The Earl, seventh in line to the throne, will fly into St Mary’s airport by private helicopter on 14 April, where he will be met by Council Chairman Dudley Mumford and Chief Executive Philip Hygate.
The Countess of Wessex and three month old daughter Louise will not be accompanying him. Edward and wife Sophie, 38, gave up high profile jobs in PR and television two years ago to concentrate on royal duties.
This is the first time the Earl has visited the Islands. Prince Charles made a flying visit in June 2002.
