Dolphin deaths bill makes progress

South West MPs are working hard to ban pair trawling. They hope something will be done by the end of the month.

Scilly MP Andrew George and Devon MP Adrian Sanders are pushing the Government to take action to stop dolphin deaths.

Mr Sanders is currently in Westminster doing research and preparing to put a bill to Parliament at the end of the month.

Mr George said ‘The Government has suggested fishing boats using pingers, which may help dolphins avoid nets, or escape hatches in nets. But continued dolphin deaths show that these wishy- washy recommendations are obviously not working.?
