The UK Film Council has received half a million pounds to make the movies mobile. The National Lottery cash will be used in an initiative to bring cinema to rural areas.

Ian Thompson from the UK Film Council says ?the project is open to everyone and designed for areas just like Scilly?

Groups can apply to the Digital Fund NTE for up to ?5 000 to help buy Digital equipment.

The last time Scilly saw a big screen was in 1989 for film ‘When the Whales Came’.

The film group ‘Scillyodeon? was very popular in the summer. If successful Scilly could offer a film screenings all year round: the perfect rainy day entertainment.

Daniel Bennett from Bryher told Scillynews ‘We do really need a cinema and a mobile one would be handy because then it can get to the off Islands’

People interested in applying should visit the UK Film Council website at www.ukfilmcouncil.org.uk.
