Fishing Organisations are calling for better safety methods for small fishing boats.

The move comes after two crew members from The Sabre were rescued by Culdrose on Saturday night. The 30 foot netter sank off the Lizard with the loss of one crewman.

It is believed that the men regularly fish around the Isles of Scilly particularly around Bishop Rock and are well known in the islands fishing community.

One member of the crew is still missing.

It has been confirmed that the boat was not fitted with an emergency satellite beacon. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch is expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
