Locals on Tresco have been enjoying a whole new eating experience as their new supermarket was officially opened this week.

The new Tresco Stores has opened beside the Estate Office after the previous one was damaged by fire last summer.

The temporary shop has been running from the old Quay Shop.

Estate Officials have said that the new stores is bigger and better and gives visitors and people who live on Tresco much more choice.

Tresco Estate manager Alan Knight told Scilly News: “It had long been our ambition to upgrade our stores, fine though the old one was, it had become cramped and outdated.”

“We wanted to extend our ranges, not just selling basic items, but to play our part in the provision of Cornish and Westcountry products, that our customers are increasingly seeking.”

The stores have sourced products from all over Scilly and Cornwall.

Chefs from the New Inn will also be supplying the Stores with chilled freshly made soups and prepared salads.

During the Tresco Stores opening week customers will be able to enjoy free Cornish wines and cheeses. But if that isn’t enough the Estate is also offering two ‘Trolley Sweeps’ on Friday 26th March for the 100th and 500th customers.
