Local boy who became part of Royal party

One of the school children on Scilly is used to accompanying VIP?s around Cornwall but on Wednesday got to do it on home ground.

Truan Hicks from St Mary’s was appointed the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Cornwall this year. That means he accompanies the Lord Lieutenant who is Lady Mary Holborow around Cornwall for official visits.

And on Wednesday he went along on the Royal visit when she and Prince Edward visited the islands.

Truan is currently in Year 11 of the Five Islands School but will soon be off to college on the mainland in September.
