The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Community Safety Partnership are supporting a new campaign to warn drinkers about their drinks being spiked.
The Police campaign called Watch Out, Spike’s About is funded by the Home Office and was launched in Truro this week to tackle the number of drink spiking incidents.
Last year there were 23 reported cases in Cornwall.
Clubs and pubs will now display posters to warn drinkers about the dangers. Some nightclubs will also carry testing kits.
Police say that clubbers should be aware of the dangers and lower their risk of being targeted by:
Don’t share or swap drinks
Don’t think soft drinks are safe they can also be spiked
Don’t leave drinks unattended
Don’t accept drinks from people you don’t know.
