Churches on the Isles of Scilly have been celebrating Easter in style.

On St Mary’s around forty people from the Methodist, Catholic and Anglican churches were up bright and early for a 6.30am sunrise service to welcome in Easter Day.

Issy Trenear from St Mary’s told Scilly News: “It was the best morning weather wise we have ever had. It was a really lovely service.”

Other islands followed a little later. On Bryher many of the tourists on holiday joined local worshippers for the Easter service. There Cannon Donald Marr handed out easter eggs to celebrate the religious festival.

On Tresco over 70 people turned up to a Good Friday religious celebration in the Abbey Gardens.
