A group of marine archaeologists have warned that shipwrecks, including some on Scilly, are being loss unnecessarily.

English Heritage and the Department of Culture Media and Sport have launched a campaign to help preserve shipwrecks for future generations.

They argue that because of dredging, sand movements and certain legislation wrecks are being lost. They even say that shipwrecks that are protected are still at risk. This includes the Colosuss that sank just off Samson in 1798.

They hope to tone down rules concerning wrecks so it is easier to examine and look after them.
