The bad weather this week has cancelled many of the island’s sporting events.
On Friday the men’s gig race was cancelled for the second time this year due to bad weather. The St Martin’s gig crew felt they couldn’t take part in the race because of the difficulty of rowing in high winds.
The women’s swap race went ahead on Wednesday with the Bonnet ladies coming in first in the Golden Eagle and the Slippen crew crossing the finish line second in the Galetea.
Cricket and hockey matches were also postponed.
