Representatives from the RSPB have been visiting Scilly this week to keep an eye on the rat population on uninhabited islands.

Two members spent Thursday inspecting White Island off Samson and Gweal to the west of Bryher to do a survey of the mammal population of the islands- namely rats.

They were checking the population because rats are known to steal and eat seabirds eggs.

No evidence of the animals were found on either island.
