It happens every year, some French yatchy will try to anchor somewhere without thinking about what happens when the tide goes out. These Frenchmen were lucky, the rock under their port side isn’t pointy enough to pierce their hull but it is big enough to hold them upright.
The number of people who ‘sail’ in yatchs and don’t know how to use the equipment properly, and those that don’t pay attention to the tides or read a relevate chart. I have heard storys of people using road maps to navigate by. It is this stupidity that can lead to tradgedies.
A few weeks ago a yatch was being blown towards rocks near Samson, the weather was fine and local boatmen were able to rescue the boat, the lifeboat was on standby just incase, the crew had lost the use of their engine and could not successfully sail away from the rocks without some assistance.
