A famous crime writer fears for her life when someone tries to kill her using methods from her own bestseller. It sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster or an episode of Murder She Wrote - but this is the plot of this year’s exciting Summer play, auditioning this week.

‘The play is called Thriller of the Year and features five women - a successfull thriller writer, her secretary, her publisher, her mother-in-law and her doctor,? producer Maggie Perkovic told ScillyNews.

‘Someone is trying to kill the writer and from two telephone conversations with the publisher’s husband and the writer’s husband, we see that there is more than one reason to kill her. The denouement at the end is a real surprise.?

The play was written by South African-born playwright Glyn Jones, a successful TV, radio and theatre actor, director, screen writer, author and teacher, whose writing credits include Doctor Who.

Auditions for the play, first produced in 1967, take place on Weds/Thurs Mar 15th/16th at 7:30pm in the Town Hall. Performances by St. Mary’s Theatre Club run from June to September.
